Spinifex Senior Student Art Gallery Opening at CUC Mount Isa
28 Aug 2025
On Tuesday 26th of August CUC Mount Isa hosted an Art Gallery opening showcasing Spinifex Senior Students’ art following the prompts ‘Lifelong learning’ and ‘The stories we tell’. This art project is proudly supported by the APA Community Grants Program.

Students, parents, teachers and community leaders attended the opening night and enjoyed the diverse artworks of year 12 students.
Some students expressed that they saw their art in a new light at the gallery and felt proud of their work. Student artist Gabrielle Stevens in response to what inspired her work said, “I thought about how when we learn every day our brain is nourished and it’s like a garden with flowers blooming.”
Gabrielle is one of 200 students who will be graduating from high school in Mount Isa. A portion of students will pursue vocational or higher education after graduating and CUC Mount Isa is here to support them. Learn more about CUC Mount Isa here.
A few of the artworks are displayed below, and everyone is welcome to visit CUC Mount Isa from 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday to view the art.
This project was initiated to encourage students and broader community in engaging with CUC Mount Isa and further spreading the message of lifelong learning as well as accessibility of education in the region. We are grateful for the generous support of APA and eager participation of Spinifex Senior Campus teachers and students who helped bringing the community together.
The APA Mount Isa and Cloncurry Community Grants Program runs twice per year. Community groups and other organisations located in the Mount Isa and Cloncurry Local Government Areas are encouraged to apply for funding to support community-led initiatives. CUC Mount Isa and students involved in the Art Gallery project are grateful for the support and opportunity to for the community connection through art.
